Berlin Mill Complains About Newspaper Coverage

By Doug MacPherson on Monday, August 6, 2001.

The largest employer in Berlin is shutting down for two weeks. A spokesman for the Berlin mill, Pulp And Paper Of America, says the move is a cost saving measure during a slow period in the pulp industry, and isn't related to the company's financial troubles. Pulp And Paper Of America owes millions of dollars in taxes to Berlin and Gorham. Meanwhile, P-P-A is accusing two newspapers of printing inaccurate information about the company. P-P-A says it has asked its legal counsel to investigate. N-H-P-R's Doug MacPherson reports.
