The View From Your Window
By Avishay Artsy on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
![]() The writer Andrew Sullivan enjoys a devoted following of readers. His blog at The Atlantic's web site, "The Daily Dish," generally focuses on health care, same-sex marriage, the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, and other political topics of the day. But the most popular feature on the blog is decidedly non-political, and it's called "The View From Your Window." In 2006 Sullivan asked his readers to send him photographs taken out their windows, to capture, as he explained, "a glimpse through the looking glass of a blog, at the world its readers live in." Three years and thousands of submissions later, the best photographs are now being published in a book - by the blog’s readers. The more copies readers pledge to buy, the lower the price goes for a single book. Sullivan will announce the final price tomorrow – it’s already below twenty dollars. It’s a fascinating new model of publishing – call it "blog print on demand" – that we expect other blogs to soon replicate. You can preview the book here.
