Gatsas Wins Manchester Mayor's Race
By Ellen Grimm on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
Manchester voters chose alderman and Republican state senator Ted Gatsas to be their next mayor. They also said yes to a tax cap. NHPR Correspondent Ellen Grimm reports. Ted Gatsas won with 10,660 votes, defeating his Democratic opponent, Mark Roy, by about 2500 votes. Gatsas, who promised to hold the line on spending and streamline city government, told his supporters he expects their help: "I look at every one of you, and if you're not in my office at least once to give me an idea of what you think is the right thing for Manchester and the right message, then you're letting me down." Gatsas will be dealing also with a tax cap, which passed by more than 1500 votes. The cap, however, still faces legal battles. Post a comment
