Brattleboro Literary Festival Heats Up

By Virginia Prescott on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Literature is one of the safer ways to delve into the darker side of human nature, and as Banned Book Week winds down, the Brattleboro Literary Festival is heating up. This weekend, sex, addiction, and religion will make their salacious presence known at the 8th annual Brattleboro Literary Festival.

Authors including Tom Perrotta, David Ebershoff, and Benoit Denizet-Lewis will make their way to the quaint New England town to explore some of our culture’s biggest taboos. Benoit Denizet-Lewis joins us to talk about his work of narrative nonfiction America Anonymous: Eight Addicts in Search of a Life.

Suzanne Kingsbury, one of the people planning this weekend’s event, also joins us for an overview of the festival and two talk about her two novels, The Summer Fletcher Greel Loved Me and The Gospel According to Gracey.
