Werner Herzog's Rogue Film School

Film director Werner Herzog has had one of the most eclectic careers in cinema. His films have featured a number of memorable characters, including a crazed Spanish conquistador, a Berlin street singer, an Irish rubber baron, and an ill-fated bear enthusiast.

So we were excited to learn that for a measly $1,450, you can sign up to attend Herzog's exclusive weekend-long Rogue Film School and sit at the knee of one of the masters of modern film.

But just in case you thought you might learn something related to, oh, say, the technical aspect of filmmaking, think again. There'll be some discussion of things like using music, creating a narrative, and elements of production. But there's also "guerrilla tactics," "the neutralization of bureaucracy," and "the exhilaration of being shot at unsuccessfully" (this says Herzog. "It is for those who have traveled on foot, who have worked as bouncers in sex clubs or as wardens in a lunatic asylum, for those who are willing to learn about lock-picking or forging shooting permits in countries not favoring their projects."
