Kepler: NASA's Search For Earth-like Planets
By Virginia Prescott on Monday, March 9, 2009.
We’ve long dreamed of extra-terrestrials, from Alf to ET, Marvin the Martian to The Man Who Fell To Earth, but we have no idea what they’d actually look like - or whether they exist. It turns out NASA actually takes this search seriously. On Friday night the Kepler space mission successfully launched. Its mission? To look for planets resembling Earth that could possibly sustain life. For more, we turn to Andrea Thompson, senior writer for Space.com.
