Here's What's Awesome: Shoe-Phone, Solar-Powered AC

Get Smart's shoephone

In honor of Word of Mouth's first birthday, this week's collection of awesome links are all fun items that would've make great presents for my WOM colleagues. (Not that the Journey Escape machine I picked up was in any way not a hit at the WOM birthday party.)

Please invent the Cone of Silence now
Get Smart fans, rejoice - the shoe phone lives! A fellow named Paul Gardner-Stephen hollowed out a men's dress shoe, stuck a cellphone and a Bluetooth earpiece into the ends, and began repeatedly calling Barbara "99" Feldon's house (ok, not really). Want to make your own, or improve on the design? Here are the plans. Just don't share them with KAOS. [Crave]

"I spit in the face of people who don't want to use less energy to be cool"
Not that we have a lot of use for it at the moment, given round 389 of winter snow, but a company called Coolerado is unveiling an energy-efficient, solar-powered air conditioner. The energy-efficiency comes from a cooling method that doesn't involve chemical refrigerants (here's the company's tech explanation), while the solar power comes by - surprise - adding photovoltaic panels to the machine. An all new cube that still nobody can do
Here's a Rubik's Cube for the iPhone set - instead of a mechanical cube with stickers on the faces, it's a touch-sensitive cube that changes light colors when you slide your hand across a side.

Such a development can only mean one thing: the Rubik's Cube cartoon show will come back eventually too. [Popular Science]

Now it's your turn: share an awesome link in the comments. Think of it as a virtual present for your favorite show!
