It's something I'd really like to get rid of

This is a commute that on the best of days will take about two hours but with a little help from my fellow commuters it can easily jump to three-plus hours. To survive you have to be comfortable living in close proximity with other travelers as you will be faced with drivers who tailgate/who will pass you in the breakdown lane/and cut you off to gain a car length, or hanging with the subway crowd as you finish the last leg of the journey.
