We take a look at New Hampshire at the turn of the century...with a twist. A group of LEGO architects is re-creating Manchester's mill yard using the popular building blocks. The scale model considers details right down to the citizens' top hats.
We'll also talk with a filmmaker who's trying to capture the town of Warner as it was at the end of the 19th century.
And, a conversation with sports journalist Jackie MacMullan of the Boston Globe. Her award-winning work has earned her the opportunity to be a visiting journalist this week at the University of New Hampshire.

Dan Brown Speaks: Dan Brown, author of one of the most popular and controversial books of the last century, The Da Vinci Code, spoke on Sunday, April 23rd in Portsmouth as part of our Writers on a New E Author Dan Brown: Dan Brown's best-seller, "The Da Vinci Code," is a page-turner and a thriller, but it's also full of little-known history about art and the Catholic Church. This repeat Front Porch interview represents one of host John Walte An Evening with Dan Brown: Dan Brown, author of "The Da Vinci Code," gave a rare public speech in Concord recently. He talked about the historical and religious controversies around his novel, and responded to his critics. Granite Staters in the News: Today on the Front Porch we hear interviews from three Granite Staters who made the headlines in 2003: Gene Robinson, Dan Brown and George Butler. Mystery Week: Dan Brown: While John is away on vacation, we're bringing you some shows from our archives. This week's theme is Mysteries and Thrillers. For such a bucolic, low-crime state, New Hampshire has quite a few writers in this genre. We star The Da Vinci Code: Exeter author Dan Brown's fourth novel hit the New York Times bestseller list the first week it was out. "The Da Vinci Code" starts with a murder, but that?s where any resemblance to a run-of-the-mill thriller ends. |
