Adolfo didn't know any English when he first came to Manchester. But at the Boys and Girls Club, he made friends, kept up with his homework and played sports. Now he's planning to go to college to get a teaching degree.

Lisa Massey says she didn't know anyone in town when she first moved to Gorham. She found support from a Family Resource Center volunteer after her son was born, and says she's glad she has people she can count on.

Sherry Gamble of Concord says she found help from a teacher who mentored her. Now, she mentors a young woman through The Friends Program because she knows how much it helps.

When Andrea Woolsey of New Hampton lost her house in a fire, the Red Cross was there to help with housing, food and clothing. Now she volunteers with the Red Cross, helping others through devastating situations like hers.

SeaCare Health Services

Jeff Trachsel is a physician with SeaCare Health Services, which provides care to those who don't have private health insurance and don't qualify for Medicaid. Many of his patients are holding down more than one job and would otherwise not get treatment.

Sydney Finkelstein is a professor in the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He spent several years looking at how businesses come to grief. His book, Why Smart Executives Fail, examines the causes of disaster and scandal in the business world and why often, it?s the best and brightest who get in the worst trouble. Included are studies of Tyco, Cabletron, and the Boston Red Sox. The two former top executives at Tyco are currently on trial, charged with grand larceny, enterprise corruption, violations of state business law and falsification of business records.
