The deal comes during a heightened real estate market in the lakes region. Russ Thibeault, President of the ALlied Economic Research is a real estate consultant in Laconia. Thibeault told NHPR's Mark Bevis he's seen nothing like it in his 25 years in the area. Costs to renovate or build new ones are very high, but inaction can also be costly. In Littleton, poor condition of the buildings has cost the high and middle schools their accreditation. The Northern Forest and Its PeopleBy John Walters on Sunday, June 3, 2001.The Northern Forest is a region stretching from Lake Ontario to the Atlantic Ocean, including parts of 4 states and southern Canada, with 30 million acres of forest and roughly 1 million people.
